This product is great!Easy to use, simple with very good features. Definitely a good, practical phone!
Love the model (simple to use, has almost all modern features), had these before, gave few to family and friends. Recommended!
I needed a simple mobile phone with native VOIP features (to make sip calls). This "old" E51 perfectly serves its purpose.
Having owned a Nokia E51 for over a year I can provide a well balanced view on it's pros & cons. It is simply the best value business mobile available using a traditional form factor, without the distractions or complications of a touch screen. This is THE replacement for trusty Nokia 6210/6310 owners. The build, weight & size of the phone are excellent, although the chrome finish will show greasy smears from time to time from grubby hand but a quick polish resolves this. The screen, although small is easy to read & bright enough to see in strong sunlight. The battery life of the phone is excellent too, lasting many days for light users or a couple of days or so for heavy users. As for functionality of the phone, the basics where it counts such as call quality are outstanding with signal strength being held consistently even in weaker reception areas. Another big plus with this model is in the inbuilt native VOIP client which is well integrated into the handset, offering easy route to VOIP calling where available. The web features of this phone are adequate & can work with the right software, but the size of the screen limits this to occasional use rather than extensive use. For example, this handset can integrate nicely with Google Mail/Calendar/Maps etc but looks weak in comparison with newer PDA/touchscreen format handsets. This isn't the area which this phone claims to lead, so it's understandable. For web browsing duties make sure you install Opera, faster & more bandwidth light than the inbuilt browser. With regards to negatives for the phone, I can report there aren't many which can't be resolved easily. There have been software glitches ironed out in newer firmware (released Feb 2010), this can be easily installed free of charge through the Nokia Software Updater software available on the Nokia site with the use of the data cable (standard mini-usb cable). Since moving to the new software version I've had no software glitches to report. As for other negatives, I would just say the lack of bundled case. You'll want to invest in one to protect it from the usual suspects such as keys & change in pockets! Hope this helps you with your decisionRead full review
The Nokia E51 is pretty much the same as the old Nokia E50 but takes functionality to a higher level than E50. The E51 runs on the Symbian S60 3rd Edition platform and is the thinnest member of the Enterprise series line up of Nokia. The build quality is great and the ergonomics are clever too. It is disappointing to note that the power button on the top and all the side keys are equally stiff and unyielding. The other niggle is that the shiny metallic fascia is a finger print magnet The signal reception and the overall battery life are commendable. Wi-Fi with Voice over IP technology support is a bonus for Fring or Skype users for free overseas calls. Overall the E51 is a brilliant business device with built in productivity tools and a dash of entertainment features thrown in.
