This is a phone. No other bells and whistles, just a basic phone. That's why I bought it. If you don't want a Smart Phone with internet access or a date book or fancy color displays, or a choice of 20 ring tones, this is the phone for you. If I have any compaints, there are 2 significant ones. 1. I wish more data showed on the display. The large font is easy to read without my glasses, but the number of characters severly limits the information in the phone book. I can't list full names. If all you want is "Mom", or "Dad", or "Home", this is fine. I had to resort to nicknames or short first names and intials. Wish the display would show time AND date. Haven't tried to send and receive texts yet. 2. I have had several Motorola phones. On this model the charging port is different than the standard. My other Motorola chargers are not compatible. Don't want to buy another car charger. I guess this is what you get for $25.00 on eBay.Read full review
I needed a phone as a backup for when my iPhone was being fixed or replaced. Well I got a check instead so I decided to continue using my F3 for a while longer. The F3 is a decent backup phone but there are many sacrifices you will have to endure if you are already used to a phone with many features and capabilities. For me the most basic is call history which isn't difficult to access on the F3, it's just completely unreliable. Texting is very limited, to about 8 characters at a time on the screen. Having no Bluetooth really hurts as my car is equipped with BT so I have to use the speakerphone on the F3 if I need to answer a call while driving. The speaker isn't too loud so I have to put it up to my ear anyway which negates the point of having the speaker in the first place. I end up either pulling over or letting it go to voicemail. This brings me to my last point, the address book. Even if you spend time entering numbers into the address book, so painful, the software in the phone won't register an incoming call since the number may have added a 1 to the incoming number so it doesn't match unless you add a 1 there too. The same thing happens with area code as well. Bit pointless. Overall, it's a decent backup phone in a pinch but not for long term.Read full review
This is a very very long lasting GSM phone. Its options are simple. Write messages Read messages Call history Ringtones Alarm clock Time/Date That's it! Want more? Then maybe it is not for you! It has a very good quality sound, specially in speakerphone mode where most phones will usually give you some static with the F3 sound quality is close to perfect. It has a very easy to read screen with very large characters, that you can read outside with the sun shinning on the screen, because the screen is not a LCD but a e paper type of technology that is close to not scratchable, and unlike a LCD very light. When it comes to it being sturdy, it handles falls very well, there is a video of a guy online stepping on the phone and showing it still being fine, you can try to bend it it is very difficult. If you want email, picture messaging, camera, internet or anything on this phone then its not for you. This phone has the same features that wireless handset for your land line does, and that's what makes it a very good phone if that is all that you need.Read full review
I only used the phone for one call to make sure it worked. I ordered it for a backup in case my iPhone quits. I am used to so much more than this F3, but the LED backlit user interface on the phone is terrible. I expected it to have the same user interface as the RAZR. However, it has something much more basic with no graphics at all. The phone numbers or names don't even fit on one line, they word wrap to the next, and it is difficult to use due to this. However, it made phone call, so it will serve the purpose of an inexpensive backup phone for me or a friend. If I would have known how bad the user interface was, I would have rather spent another $20 or so for a RAZR that flips and has a much better interface. Additionally, the RAZR was a very successful phone a few years ago. Would be a better backup phone in my opinion.Read full review
First off, this is a very basic phone for the person that mainly just wants to make calls and which has some texting ability (which I do not use). I was looking for a cheap unlocked phone to work on the AT&T network. This one fit that need. Pros: Nice and sturdy. Slim. Big display. Keypad is easy to use. Cons: User interface is not that intuitive for such a simple feature set. Cannot sync to your computer using Motorola Phone Tools Software. You have to set date/time yourself everytime you disconnect the battery. I plan to use this phone as a backup one, since the inability to sync contact info is a major concern for me. Other than that issue, I really like its simplicity and sturdiness.
I have had this phone for 7 months and at first was very happy with it. Just what I wanted, great sound and signal quality with out all the stuff other phones are crammed with. I don't need a camera, web, email or gps, just need a phone to be a phone and the occasional text. This phone does have a great form factor, very thin and stylish, and I do still love the look of it. But 4-5 months into using it the signal and battery meters started fading out, not the signal or actual battery function just the screen reading of these functions. Very disapointing, and 1 function I missed was that this phone doesn't show you missed calls, unless of course they leave a message. I have put this phone into backup position and went back to using my C139. Though not perfect either it gives me enough to stay with it until I upgrade to perhaps a V3, 2600 classic or a 1680. I need a bigger screen than the C139 offers, getting older and it is a little hard to read. Anyway, just my humble opinion.Read full review
I have been looking for a phone that was reliable and simple to use, the Motofone fits perfectly. Motorola may have made it too simple however. One thing I wasn't expecting is that the screen doesn't scroll, and with text that large, not much fits in the screen so you have to manually scroll to see the whole phone number. If they're reading this, I think being able to display names if they're in your phonebook would be nice too... it's hard to know who called when looking at just the number. The screen is very nice in a simplistic way. One of the main perks is the time is displayed while the screensaver is on, that doesn't sound like much but it's not a feature many phones have. The Motofone is very light weight and fits nicely in the hand. The talking propts are nice but a little annoying when all of them are turned on. Another thing that kind of unusual but nice once you get used to it is that many of the phones features can be toggled by entering a code on screen so you don't have to navigate the menu system to find and toggle features. Overall a nicely built phone that just makes calls and reads text messages. Very sleek in it's styling, lightweight and a soft display makes the Motofone a great buy.Read full review
I purchased this Motofone about a month ago. It was used, and had some cosmetic flaws. This phone is very simple. Phone, text, alarm clock,stop-watch-thats it! this sounded very appealing to me, but the phone is low quality. It was very easy to figure out the layout of the menu and how to operate the phone. It is too simple though, there is no punctuation for text messages other than , - & @ there is no sent message folder, so if you can't remember what you last txt'd you are in a dilly of a pickle. The invincible 300hr battery is pretty terrible-only lasting about 3 days. I got rid of it--the reason being it kept questioning whether I had a sim card in the slot. I would look at it now and then and see an error message telling me that it's sim card had failed. which was not a legitimate problem b/c I toook the simcard out of the slot and put it into a different phone and that phone has worked every since. If that flaw was an exception to the standard of these phones, then I would recommend it to someone who was in need of a very very very simple phone This phone was inexpensive so thats why the 3 star "value for money" All of this could be incidental to how the previous owner treated it, which I have no idea what was done before it came into my handsRead full review
This is the more durable, reliable, rugged and BASIC cell phone ever sold. If you want bluetooth, internet, MP3's, television, SMS, camera, foot massaging, dancing dogs or any of that other crap that everyone demands these days, you're out of luck. This is a CELL PHONE, not a gee-whiz toy for the masses. It makes cell phone calls, and that's IT. It was designed for 3rd world countries, not for fickle, cutting-edge US consumers. It works extremely well for making cellular calls. It DOES allow the use of a handsfree headset (google F3 pedestrian) and it DOES have a speakerphone that works great. If all you want is a basic phone (hardly anyone sells JUST a phone anymore!), this is for you.
This is a basic cell phone. No frills or thrills, just a good working cell phone to replace one that "walked away" from me two weeks ago. All I had to do was insert the SIM card, charge the battery a couple hours, and then hit 3 to change it from Spanish to English. It even had a voice instruction to help set it up. It doesn't take pictures or movies or play my college fight song, but for under thirty dollars it does what it is supposed to do. It may be able to text message, but I don't do that, so I didn't bother with the full set up - just what I need. If I want to show someone pictures of my grandkids, I'll pull them out of my wallet. I'll use my DVD camera to take movies and use my Canon RebelXT SLR camera for pictures. Rather than text message, either email or write them a letter! This cell phone would be great for school kids, college kids and anyone who has trouble keeping contact with their phone. (My niece would be the exception to this - she even sleeps with her phone just in case some wants to text message her while she's asleep. UGH!!!)Read full review
