This is a wonderful story of Dylan Thomas childhood. He speaks as an adult narrator then surprising switches to the child he was. It is compelling reading. Very funny. And although it is set two generations before my time,( I’m 74 now) I could recognise the freedom and pleasure of making slides, carol singing and then after Christmas tea every one doing a turn.?Then the Aunt/Uncle getting slightly tipsy. Happy days, a wonderful piece to read out loud. (Only takes 30mins to do this).

Good story and brings back memories! I wish that I had taken notice of the book’s measurements as it is a bit small. Would love a bigger book so that the wonderful illustrations can be seen and enjoyed more.

A "must read" for me in the run up to Christmas. It is a warmhearted picture of Christmases before all the bling and glitter and hype. The descriptions are wonderfully vivid and richly poetic at times evoking a time when family and friends shared time together and life wasn't lived through mobile phones and social media!

A child's Christmas in Wales is a story about Dylan Thomas' memories of all Christmases rolled into one at his home in Swansea. It's written from a child's perspective of the behaviour of adults, the reaction of children to useless and useful presents and the chaos that errupts when a neighbour thought her turkey was on fire. It's brilliant because anyone who can remember their own Christmases will find them in this book
