This was a random find, bought on the "spur of the moment" and turned out to be a great buy. Aimed at the enthusiast, or even at railwaymen, this is an in-depth study of how the Scottish Region of BR was run. There are a few pages of photographs, including some very interesting ones, but it's not that kind of book. I found it to be compulsive reading and it was full of stuff I didn't know. I have read Mr Mullay's work before and he knows what he's talking about. Far from singing the praises of the management of the day, the text can be quite critical, something I had no problem with, at all. Not exactly light reading, I would recommend this volume to anyone with more than a passing interest in Scotland's railways. It is now in my reference section and I'm sure it will used on many occasions. One final point; you get a lot of book for your money. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.Read full review
