In a sleepy, peaceful, happy village an old woman is found dead in her home - she has fallen down the stairs! But another event occurred that upset and disturbed her - her pony was poisoned by a poisonous plant by someone who did not like her! Her fall down the stairs was an accident but the death of her pony was deliberate and wicked! Meredith and Markby are on holiday - looking forward to some rest, peace and relaxation. On hearing about this death and other acts of vandalism in the village they feel the need to investigate and resolve the situation. In order to find out more about her they ask people who knew her. Then a dead body is found - it is a local man. Now it is necessary to look further into her history and then link it with the present. Then the facts are revealed with some unexpected red herrings and twists and turns. This was a very engrossing read - it was well-worth reading and reading!Read full review
