This is the basic but competent version of the Asus i7 1366 socket motherboards using the intel x58 chipset and featuring a tripple channel configuration of DDR3. (if you're using 3 sticks use the red sockets rather than the traditional nearest the cpu layout). The board takes two ati cards in crossfire, but only one nvidia (something about the sli licence puting the cost up) The P6T also supports RAID with the ICH10R (not the new SAS standard found on more expensive versions of the Asus P6 boards). Note that you can't use the Express Gate 'boot in 5 seconds' feature with a raid configuration, only on single drives - which they don't tell you up front. If you've tried that and ended with a dos type screen you can't escape from then press the F8 key on the first boot screen for the choice of boot device screen, once back in windows uninstall the Express Gate programme. I live in hope that Asus will finish writing the Express Gate programme for their products one day! The board has proven to be stable with a good quality 700W psu, 6GB of Corsair XMS - 3x2, a HD4870 video card, a pair of Seagates in Raid 0 and an i7 920 on Windows 7 64bit. It just all worked on the first start (after changing the Hard Drives to raid in the bios) first build for years that has done that! Note: you really need a good quality psu with an i7 or the thing will keep freezing / dying / stopping / not booting etc. I'd really like to rate the board as 'Excellent' but because the Express Gate feature was one of the reasons I bought this board and it is an unfinished product I can only give it a 'Good' rating - shame. If you're building an i7 on a budget or if you want reliability without the whistles and bells then this board will do the job and do it well.Read full review
Purchased to replace the existing motherboard in a Dell XPS730Hc. The existing board has poor Bios and takes ages to boot. Also the Water cooling is poor and expensive to replace. The ASUS board slotted in easily and now with the addition of a large ANTEC processor fan it functions much better with little change in performance. Boot up is much faster and the Water cooling is redundent
i wanted a 24 ram i7 motherboard at a cheap price so i have taken the risk work out great thankyou like the price far cheaper
