Rather than replace the stock Intel cooler with another of the same I decided to spend just a little more for my i3. Still relies on the Intel pushpins to secure it to the motherboard and these can fail if the heatsink is removed a few times. Also the heatsink itself is round where it contacts the CPU and not square as on some more expensive products. However, it is more effective at cooling than the stock Intel product; temperatures are definitely lower, and the fan speed is less due to the fan being slightly larger. This makes for slightly quieter operation as well. On my motherboard the fan was slowing to around 700 rpm in a cool room and this was too low, producing a low growling noise which at first made me suspect the bearing. Going into the BIOS and adjusting the fan profile to ensure speed never drops below 850 rpm has stopped this.Read full review

Told that it is for LGA775 motherboards but snags capacitors on both my boards.

Even though this is a relatively simple cooler it keeps my i7 3770 under 65C at all times ...that makes it 22C cooler than the stock heatsink the CPU came with...and that's in a poorly ventilated case with only one intake fan...impressive for under £12

So much better than the original fan. Temperature of the CPU significantly lower even with high usage.

simply put i saw a 20C drop at load over the stock intel cooler on my i5 6600 skylake cpu ...well worth the cost....why don't Intel ship coolers fit for the job with they're high end cpu's ????
