This is great value with 31 songs and you can see how Al progressed. His first album Bedsitter Images was obviously not under Al's control as it is all but wrecked by the backing arrangements. The title track is the best song and Denise at 16 charming, as there is no backing on it, but the rest are pretty and insignificant tunes compared with what was to come. Love Chronicles is a fantastic 5 star work, which showed what Al could do. I've always adored Clifton in the Rain, then there is Old Compton Street Blues, Ballad of Mary Foster and of course Love Chronicles itself. Tracks to change your life! Songs with words! Unfortunately Al went rather off track with the third album, Zero She Flies, but there is still the mighty Electric Los Angeles Sunset and the beautiful Manuscript.
