To the manufacturer.; This capo oozes quality until it comes to the hinge pin. It works well, but this is no 'Shubb buster' in its present incarnation. Nicely made and finished castings are let down by a cheap hinge pin fitting that has no place in this type of engineering. It's the classic 'spoilt for a ha'p'orth of tar' caused by costing engineers downgrading a design at the point of manufacture to hit a price target. Gigging guitarists know that good engineering costs money and don't mind paying a bit extra for the reliability it brings. A broken capo at a gig can quickly become a nightmare, so c'mon guys, do it properly. A quality hinge pin will lift your otherwise well-designed capo up into 'Shubb' territory and well away from the cheap'nasty plastic junk at the bottom end of the market. To potential purchasers; This capo has a good feel to it and can be quickly fitted and tensioned perfectly via the knurled nut at the top to avoid upsetting the tuning of your instrument. It's so much better than the 'oversprung' trigger type so prevalent these days because you have control over how hard it grips the neck and depresses the strings. This is not a 'trigger quick release' capo, it's a screw thread tensioned capo that is easy to fit and release. Worth the money. Worth even more if they upgrade the hinge pin.Read full review

This capo works well once in place, but is not easy to install. A few attempts may be needed to ensure there is no buzzing sound from the strings, but it stays in the way it was installed without any buzzing appearing later. The best way to install it seems to squeeze it into place with one hand, while tightening the knob with the other hand - trying to tighten the knob with one hand doesn't appear to be enough and leads to capo sliding out of the desired position on the chosen fret. Length of the top "arm" of the capo is just about enough for my acoustic guitar up to the 9th fret. The shape of the bottom "arm" doesn't match the shape of the bottom of the neck well, but thanks to the soft rubber strips it stays in place, as expected. Overall, build quality is quite solid and I expect it to last for a while. However, it certainly doesn't have any kind of a "premium" feel to it. Purchasing a trigger-type spring-loaded capo may well be a better value for money.Read full review

It is an effective as the classic Planet Waves capo, which I personally find the best for allowing my left hand to work the first fret. It is slightly bulkier but also less expensive. The build is solid enough for the job.

This would probably be OK for nylon strings, or possibly extra-light steel strings, but I found it didn't work very well on my acoustic strung with .012s. Comparing it with my similar NS capo, I think the problem is that the rubber is softer, allowing the wound 6th to buzz slightly. It is cheap, but if you need to replace the rubber to get it to work properly you'll end up not really saving very much.

A Capo that a guitarist can rely on to avoid the dreaded fret buzz and dampened string sound. Solidly made and anodised to a design that avoids those low quality spring related capo's. Simple to fix in place, one twirl knob and quality rubber bar strips prevent damage to the guitar neck and due to their compact size, less cumbersome when in place. A fine piece of kit which will function well for many years. Rock on.
