Although I'm no music critic I do have a love of music, which is exactly why this is a must album to own. In my opinion Alien Ant Farm are an extremely under-rated band, Their First professionally recorded studio album, Anthology, sold well unlike truAnt, which, I find hard to grasp as it is just as good, if not better then. The Album has the same up beat, fun loving, hard rock style of the previous album but features fresh sounding material with no two track sounding 'samey' or un-original. The tone of the album changes from song to song, most have an up beat sound but lyrically, deal with deeper issues. Of course everyone has their own interpretation of lyrical meanings. The diversity of sound ranges from rock out epic tracks with deep lyrical meaning like These days, sarah wynn, to more mellow alternative tracks such as, never meant, hope and even the all out typical Alien ant farm rocking sounds of drifting apart and happy vibes of glow. Dryden's voice is flawless (especially live!), as is the playing and creativity of Tye Zamora(bass), Terry Corso(guitar) and Mike Cosgrove(drums). Although all the songs are enjoyable my favourites are: Drifting Apart These Days Glow Never Meant Sarah WynnRead full review
I'm gonna be bi-est to this because I am an absolute fan of alien ant farm! This album is one of my faves with tracks including Glow and These Days. It was released in 2003 a couple of years after the bus crash that broke lead singer Dryden's neck..but after fighting back the boys release this album! An absolute must have to any cd collection, you just cant keep still, you gotta rock along to the haunting and uplifting lyrics...........once you've heard this and you dont have any alien ant farm in your cd collection, then you gotta go and get your hands the others, Anthology, Greatest Hits, the little known 3RD Draft, and their new one Up in the Attick! BEWARE YOU WILL BECOME ADDICTED! happy listening!
I loved every track on ANThology but this was a big disappointment. The band play and sing well it's just that none of the song's, with the exception of These Day's, seems to gel properly. Some songs appear to be blatant reworkings of ANThology tracks but in my opinion they come a poor second to the 'originals'. Plus points - excellent overall production quality, 'These Days' and live versions of ANThology tracks on the DVD. Overall - stick to ANThology and hope for a return to form on the next album
