Alison Krauss has such an amazing voice and this dvd highlights her talents backed up by really good musicians. A concert in such an amazing venue well worth buying. So good I bought the cd as well.

never listened to alison krauss before, but like bluegrass music singers and loved this cd. union statation were good playing with alison think I will have to get the dvd of the same concert.
My musical tastes are varied - anything from 50's rock and roll, through to world music and most things in between. All I ask is a tune I can hum, lyrics I can understand and relate to and a good beat. County music contains those in good measure so my collection has a fair amount if it. However bluegrass style stuff has never quite made it into the collection. I had seen Alison Krauss on TV a few times and liked the voice and some of the songs I heard - for example her version of 'When you say nothing at all' which is on this album.. When I saw the Live album on sale this Xmas I decided to give it a try without really knowing what a whole album's worth of AK and Union Station (her group) would bring. Since Xmas I've pretty well played it every day. What a stunner! Her voice is superb - as clear as a bell. But it's not only her. Several tracks feature her group with songs like 'I am a man of constant sorrow' that was featured in the film 'oh brother where art thou?' The musicianship is quite breathtaking. It features some of the best dobro (steel slide guitar) playing I've ever heard, by Jerry Douglas who AK introduces as the best dobro player the world has ever seen. After hearing this I can see what she means! Alison herself is a tremendous fiddle player and the rest are equally good. I must admit as a sometime drummer I tend to prefer music that has a good drum part. Some of the tracks being what would broadly be termed bluegrass do not have drums on them. Nevertheless, they drive along with the best of them. If you thought bluegrass was 'hicksville' and an acquired taste think again. This is some of the best music you will hear. Great songs, great voices, fantastic musicianship! Brilliant!Read full review
