I enjoyed this adaptation more than I'd been expecting to - I like what they've done with Shadow's character, and some of the visuals are brilliant. Ian McShane is quite the revelation (I've never seen "Deadwood", so "American Gods" is my first post-Lovejoy viewing of him as a regular). Also Gillian Anderson's Marilyn Monroe-esque performance is brilliant, and its great to see Crispin Glover doing his creepy thing. There are a lot of DVD extras too, and I like the interviews with McShane and Whittle (they're both Northerners). Recommended for a weekend box-set binge. I'm only giving four stars because I have to wait for season 2, so I'm crossing fingers that they keep up the quality!
