Brilliant wrap up of a great series that has it ups and downs, but is always interesting and engaging. The fifth season is one of the best of the series.

Well, 7 seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and 4 seasons of Angel later and this is it, the last one. Angel and his friends have taken control of Wolfram and Hart and are running operations from inside the very enemy they have been fighting for the past four years. Spikes back from the pit of the hellmouth and stuck inside Wolfram and Hart as an incorporeal spectre. I won't give too much away but things are beginning to fall apart for the gang, their situation becomes worse than it has ever been before, old enemies return seeking revenge and new enemies enter ready for the the oh-so promised apocolypse since the dawn of time. Can Angel and Spike put aside their differences and save the world once and for all? who from Angel's gang will live through the coming battles? Will Angel himself survive? From start to finish, you will be on the edge of you seat, you will laugh and you WILL cry. This is it, this is the end of the Whedonverse...I wanna see how it ends... Also, there are some pretty good special features and some good episode commentaries by various cast members as well as exclusive footage of the 100th episode birthday party! Well worth the money!Read full review
I purchased this item to replace a long broken vhs format box set i had from years ago and this doesn't dissapoint with buckets of extras and much enhanced sound and vision quality - maybe even better than the original format it was shown on sky one almost seven years ago. A decent season of Angel, and always one that will live in the memory as the (false)resolution of Angel's predicament - it was always unlikely that he was going to get the happy ending he craved - which starts and ends with two excellently crafted episodes by the shows creator Joss Whedon. The problem with this season is that it furrows through so many different peaks and troughs within the quality of the episodes and through the course of just one season it is difficult to summarize as a whole. Which at times means that this season pales in comparsion with the dark and moody season one, and the experimental and engaging season four. Again it attempts to deal with the massive issues of finding your place in the world, and the age aold fight of good and evil, not just on a large scale event as in the finale, but on a personal level, as it does so well in 'Conviction' and 'Harm's Way' and of course the price that has to be paid in 'Not fade away'. Overall a good season and a fitting tribute to end the shows five year run.Read full review
I had been a fan of Joss Whedons other creation- Buffy, so when a 'spin' off series of Angel was made you bet your pointy teeth I was going to watch it. Staring the dreamy David Boreanaz as Angel the series was very easy on the eye-if you know what I mean- also Alexsis Denisoff- he ended up being quite dishy in this series too, long gone are the days of the weedy watcher Wesley from Buffy. Had all the previous series 1-4 in the bookstyle boxset and my seasons of Buffy are the same, so wanted to complete with the same. Had managed to win a boxset and pay to an Ebayer who just decided to rip everyone off and not send the dvd's, so when I managed to win this set AND they arrived I was so happy. Any way- enough about eye candy, and nonsense- lets get down to buisness The series itself is watchable- but seems to lack any pzazz compared to other seasons, which is a bit of a shame as it was the last series Fox ever made- ' DOH ' Most of the series is light harted and jovial in nature- a few episodes that spring to mind are 'Smile time' -were angel gets turned in to a puppet and 'life of the party' -staring the wonderful Andy Hallet as Lorn - to mention a few. You see a different side to the relationship between Spike ( James Marsters)-who starts the series as a non-corporial entity?????- and Angel, they are like the proveribial 'odd couple' - must admit, I like the old Spike (pre buffy season 5) Season 5 ends on a cliff-hanger, FOX- HOW VERY DARE YOU!!!!! - so do our hero's safe the world or not?????????? only Joss Whedon knows..................................and he's not telling. Basically if you are a fan of the show, you will love it because it's Angel- MMMMMMNNNNNN Angel - but the series is a let down and the cliff-hanging ending will leave you quite frustrated.Read full review
Amazing Rare book style dvd, giving all Angel (David Boreanaz) fans the chance to see him in action in his final season as the vampire with a soul. Angel and crew continue to try to help the helpless - but from a new and different position. Now they're not facing up to evil law firm Wolfram and Hart anymore - they're running it!
