I am an OAP and new to this device. However I found it easy to use once I had mastered (by trial and error) the click wheel which is the key to using this iPod. It took a bit of practice until my thumb became sensitive to it and then it became natural to use. I was easily able to download my own music from my PC to the iPod by connecting them using a usb lead. I asked it to copy all my music and photos and within an hour thousands and thousands of songs and photos were on the iPod and even some videos. I still have about 50 GBs of space empty and will probably never fill it. It recognises automatically my computer so whenever I plug it in it syncronises my record collection with any new songs or albums I have recently added and it does this in a few seconds. I occasionally ask it to add artwork so that the album shown on the iPod has a picture of the original album displayed. Neat. Quality of pictures and sound are both excellent. I don't like earphones so I purchased a small plugin speaker (with its own built in rechargeable battery for £5 and that also gives excellent playback whereever I am. I also happened to have a docking station at home which plays CDs but also has a slot for dropping in the iPod and so can play music over that system too. I sometimes use the docking station just to charge up the iPod battery. Of course anyone visiting who has an ipod can drop it in the docking station and play their music choice at my house which could be handy for parties! The iPod was bought second hand off ebay for £80 including earphones and leads and was declared to be in pristine condition and fully functional. It was exactly that. It is a quality piece of kit, slim and reassuringly heavy. I bought a cover to protect it as they scratch easily apparently. Purchasing new songs has been through iTunes and very simple at 99p per song. I love this way of getting new songs by the way as my old albums (LPs and CDs) often had loads of rubbish songs on them and just 2 or 3 good ones which I wanted. Now I listen to a song on Spotify or iTunes and if I like it I purchase the individual song only and add it to my collection and this takes just a few seconds. Then I make a compilation album of my favourite songs for different occasions on my PC then plug in my iPod and it automatically picks up the compilation and gives me a playlist for use wherever I take my iPod. I thoroughly recommend. If, like me, you are not a computer or technology geek, don't be afraid of it, you can't ruin it (except physically) but be patient whilst you get use to the click wheel (incidentally the 'click' sound can be turned off if you wish)Read full review
Old technology but still my favourite mass storage device. I have 3 of these now and managed to fill one with 10,500 tracks...the latest 2 being reconditioned units and they are like new.

I was obviously dubious about spending this much on a reconditioned item, and initially thought that I had made a mistake, However, once I had worked out the new 6th generation menus ( my previous model only played music ) and turned off 'repeat one song' that was set for testing purposes and turned on shuffle option I'm now extremely pleased with this item.

What did I do before I bought this. I can take my entire music collection everywhere. Not a thing you would have considered with all the cd's I have. Pretty easy to use, although I've not had time to try all the features yet (to busy loading albums). Any problems are easy to sort with the manual and help on itunes. The only downside I have found so far is the album artwork ,unless itunes sell the album it doesn't load it, even with some fairly new ones. Not having had one of these before I can't compare it but I think this is a really good item.
I purchased this Ipod Classic 6th Generation from a specialist who makes up units of spares. This was after the battery died on my ipod photo 30MB. I'm very pleased with this ipod so far, works perfectly with terrific battery life. Being a newer model has meant that it is also compatible with my in car entertainment system so I can play all of my music on it!
