If Apple is really environmentally friendly, I am not sure why they are getting away with tried and true products that last forever. I purposely sought out the older style trackpad that uses AA batteries. As far as I can tell it has the main functions of the newer model. I have the keyboard that matches it, and it has lasted for years. I plan to get the older mouse too. You can still use just regular rechargeable batteries. With rechargeable models of their stuff, there seems to be no way for the user to replace the battery in current products, and they become disposable only for that reason. The trackpad works great, and I haven't had any bluetooth issues so far when using this with my Mac Mini 2020 M1. The trackpad takes some getting used to when replacing a mouse, but this trackpad works far better than the ones I have used so far on Windows machines. I've seen where there may be a Windows driver for this? As a plus, the battery compartments raises the product for the perfect angle. I recommend this product.Read full review

out of production now. i prefer this to the current rechargeable version due to size. (i have more than one of these for different workplaces.) i use this on the left side of the keyboard, since i already have the keypad on the right, and find it works out to be a great balance ergonomically. only downside is that it works as well as everything else bluetooth, which is to say, great if/when it will pair up, but i occasionally find that the bluetooth connection isn't there and have to restart the computer to get the trackpad and computer to talk to each other. (note: i don't think this is the fault of the trackpad, but rather of the bluetooth on the computer.)

I am a new Mac user, so I am still learning it. With regards to this Trackpad 2, it has a lot of great features and what I am able to use seems to work easily and effortlessly. The negative aspect is that Apple and a lot of the other big companies who have their specific products locked up, need to also start thinking about the needs of the disabled population and other individuals who can't access all the great features of these products. It's the 21st century and it's a shame that there are still individuals who can't use these wonderful features just because we fall into a minority group. Maybe Apple has other ways for disabled and others who otherwise can't access these features to use them through some special backdoor.

I recently acquired an Apple Magic Trackpad 2. It replaced my previous pad that came with my iMac. I like the original pad other than the constant demand to replace two AA batteries. I felt the battery life was too short and it was just so costly to keep feeding batteries. The Trackpad 2 charges from the same cord as my iPhone 6 so it's much more convenient to keep charged and cheaper than my older battery powered pad. The features are more inclusive and the options simply much more comprehensive. I won't go into them but it's a fully functional trackpad that adds to the convenience of my computer usage. I would recommend this unit to anyone albeit it's not a cheap date by any means. Since it's such an integral part of the computer operation along with a keyboard and screen I just don't want to skimp in these functions. Read full review

I am new to IMac, was always a Windows girl. I first bought the mouse, and it was a lot heavier than a microsoft mouse. Hard to get used to but I did. Had to lift it a lot to manoveur on screen. I decided to go to our local computer store where I bought my computer and bought a trackpad 2 for $135...Came home and looked online (which I should have done in the first place). Of course I found this one for a great deal, so returned my other trackpad 2 and bought this one. I must say I am still learning, a couple things I still am figuring out but I love it so much more than a mouse!! Love all the features, and it knows if you have 1, 2 or 3 fingers on the pad is amazing. I did watch the tutorial on using it which helps a newbie like me. Had an older friend who has one but he said its to fast for him, so I will tell him he can slow down the speed of the cursor.Read full review
