Very funny, lots of adventure, great acting all round. Have seen it before, loved it so bought it. Can watch this film over again. Loved the fighting, the actors and the comedy. No boring bits. Good film.
Multi-skilled Chinese thief Lau Xing (Jackie Chan) has stolen a valuable jade Buddha. In order to evade detection from the authorities he adopts the name Passepartout and enters the service of Phileas Fogg (Steve Coogan), an English gentleman obsessed by time who likes to dabble as an inventor. Upon a wager with his fellow members of a London gentleman’s club that he can traverse the globe in 80 days or less, Fogg and trusty Passepartout (often using his extraordinary martial arts skills to get them out of trouble) set out on an extraordinary journey around the world using whatever weird and wonderful mode of transport available. However, the London police have mistakenly identified Fogg as the perpetrator of a bank robbery and a dogged detective is in close pursuit...
Steve Coogan leads an all-star cast through this spirited screen version of Jules Verne's classic Victorian adventure. The title says it all really, as crackpot inventor and globetrotting adventurer Phileas Fogg (Coogan) falls foul of various larger-than-life foreign types. With Jackie Chan in support as faithful manservant Passepartout, there's a lot more martial arts action and general death defiance than you might have expected. Elsewhere, stars to keep 'em peeled for include Arnold Schwarzenegger as a crazy prince, Luke and Owen Wilson as the Brothers' Wright, Jim Broadbent as a dreadful cad and, we kid you not, Richard Branson as "Balloon Man".
i decided to buy this DVD after my daughter saw a bit if it on TV. It's a fantastic film and excellent family viewing. my daughter enjoyed it very much. Both funny and exciting the lead characters are brilliantly played by Steve Coogan (alias Phileas Fog) and Jackie Chan (alias Passpartout). On a mission to circumnavigate the world in 80 days to prove to the head of the Royal Acadamy of Science (Jim Broadbent) that it can be done they set off on a race around the world by land air and see.
