Compared to my previous alarm/radio this is a much smaller and neater taking up less room on the bedside cabinet. More room for my books. I have not explored all the options on the alarm/radio. The alarm may seem a bit more complicated than older alarm/radios to set up but using the instruction booklet I manged to set up the alarm and reset it several times since. There are two alarms options that can be set. The dimming function of the display has four levels of brightness, the lowest level is good for me and in my view certainly does not light up a dark room.

For myself the display is too small. The buttons, apart from the snooze button are all the same size and there are twelve of them. At night, when in the dark, unless you have an exceptional memory, it is impossible to remember what each button does. This may not be a problem for a lot of users but I always have to listen using ear buds and in the dark. A possible design solution (in case anyone from the manufacturer reads this) could be illuminated buttons in different colours, with symbols as to their use. I have purchased some self adhesive silicon rubber pads which I have cut to shape and attached to certain buttons (the one's I need most in the dark) to differentiate them from less used buttons.

The clock radio looks good, is easy to set up and use, and has some handy features, including the USB charging port. The dimming options for the display are important for night time as the screen is very bright on its higher settings. We don't have a strong DAB signal in our home and the sound is distorted when listening to DAB radio (unlike our previous clock radio which worked fine). However, we are able to receive an adequate FM signal and so are using that instead.

Brought one of these as I no longer listen to the BBC and needed DAB and it saves using my phone as a expensive radio. Sound quality is as you would expect and is surprisingly clear with plenty of tonal quality. Buttons are positive to the touch and spaced out well even with big hands. Setup is a breeze although the user guide has numerous errors it was easy to figure out. I love the alarm features having 2 you can set it up for different times on week days and weekends. Presets are fantastically easy to use. Having a USB charge port is a welcome feature and Bluetooth works really well with iPhone and iPads although it could do with a better pre-amp stage requiring the device to be operated at full volume. The only real down side is the display; it is a rather washed out cheap component and should have also been inked to a ambient light sensor as it is way to bright for night time at anything above the lowest setting which means it is then too dim in daylight hours requiring it to be turned up but at least it has a one touch feature to dim/brighten it (4 steps) (Once out of warranty I intend to add an ambient sensor feature as it is dead easy to do.) In conclusion, if you want a value for money alarm clock, DAB, Bluetooth, radio then this is the one to get. Nicely made and a thought out design. Love mine ad would buy again. Fantastic product that is lightweight, compact and easy to use. All good without any fuss. Comes with 12-month warranty initially, but can be extended by a further 2-years if registering product online via the Azatom website. Overall, I cannot see any cons of this product - it is perfect in every way in my opinion!
