Hey :D Well, you get 5 dvd discs. They arn't in hard cases but in double sided plastic pockets. The discs appear of quite good quality. not just a flimsey DVD-R but the disc feels like good quality (if you know what I mean) Further more there is a different batman character decorating the front of each disc. Once again, it looks very well done, not just a picture glued on ya know? The video and sound quality is great. It looks like the cartoons were recorded off SKY, and had a direct copy made from the tape to the disc as there doesn't appear to be any degradation in quality. I was very happy. I should point out tho, I havn't finished the full of disc one yet, but the ONLY thing which could be construed as a fault, I have noticed the screen pixelate for a split second about 3 times in 9 episodes. I'm only letting you know so you can make the judgement for yourself. It didn't impair the wathcing of the episode at all, but I'm just trying to be specific with you. Over all, the discs are good qual, but in plastic pockets. The video and audio quality is just like watching the cartoons on tv! oh the root menues are simple, but look good, with a background and a picture for each episode and the title. and the only thing you might wanna know about is the pixel thing, but like I said, 3 times in 9 episodes and for a splitsecond each time. Hope this helps :D .....IB a n eRead full review
The original series was partially inspired by Tim Burton's 1989 blockbuster Batman film, and initially took as its theme a variation of music written by Danny Elfman for the film. The series premiered in 1992, a few months after the successful release of the second Batman movie, Batman Returns. It is widely regarded by fans as the most iconic modern representation of the Batman character and mythology. The Emmy Award-winning series quickly received wide acclaim for its distinctive animation and mature writing, and it instantly became a hit. Fans of a wide age range praised the show's sophisticated, cinematic tone and psychological stories. Voice-actor Kevin Conroy, for example, used two distinct voices to portray Bruce Wayne and Batman, as Michael Keaton had done in the films. This series also featured a supporting cast that included major actors performing the voices of the various classic villains, most notably Mark Hamill, who defined a whole new career for himself in animation with his cheerfully deranged portrayal of the Joker. The voice recording sessions were recorded with the actors together in a studio, like a radio play (in the majority of animated films, the principal voice actors record separately and never meet). This adds to the authenticity of the performance. I have always enjoyed watching Batman...be it in the movies where the dark Knights character was portrayed by...Adam West,Michael Keaton,Val Kilmer,George Clooney or the latest Caped Crusader Christian Bale...but if you are looking for the 'true' Batman origin experience, then look no further !!! The Animated series from 1992 redefined Batman for a new generation, Whatever your age you are bound to like this timeless clasic. The Animation is still Superb & stands well, even with todays technology. The episodes have great storylines, plots & characters. There is a dark Atmospheric moody feel to the cartoons which shows Batman as he truly is in the Comics. Also on the DVD extras, there are short interviews with producer Bruce Timm. There is something for everyone here !!! A must-see !!!Read full review
