This madcap 1954 comedy, inspired by the cartoons of artist Ronald Searle, is the first and best of the St Trinian's movie series and probably anyone over the age of 50 will have seen it loads of times. Its humour belongs to a previous age but there are some terrific highlights, espcially Alastair Sim in two magnificent roles, as the headmistress of the ghastly girls' school and as her twin, a bent bookie. Even the music, by Malcolm Arnold, is a hoot - especially the jaunty tune that heralds the appearances of Flash Harry (George Cole). A silly saunter down comedy's memory lane.
Classic British comedy that I loved at the time. And enjoy again whenever reviewed of it's time with it's ageless appeal. George Cole as a classic Teddy Boy is a joy.
