I was sick and tired of my standard cheap pop riveter failing on me. I would spent a long time preparing but be let down by the jaws slipping or the mouth being jammed. I would end up taking it apart and hammering out the rivet shaft. My existing one is the type you squeeze in one hand, and is most commonly available nearly everywhere for under a tenner, usually with a few rivets thrown in. I searched high and low for an alternative, but was horrified by the price of professional riveters, some four or five times the price of my existing one. However, I saw this blue spot riveter for a very reasonable price, only a couple of pounds higher than mine. It has been a delight to use; never clogging or jamming, and the spent rods are collected in a small plastic bottle housed at the rear of the mechanism in-between the handles, which means I don't need to clear up afterwards. The bottle unscrews easily for emptying straight into the waste. It handles 2.4 mm, 3.2 mm, 4.0 mm, and 4.8 mm rivet diameters with four different nozzles which screw into the nose. There is a nozzle change wrench tucked in the handle, so you can find it easily. It will handle ally, steel and stainless with ease. Additionally it has three pulling jaws as of two in my old tool. It seems very well constructed and the levers give excellent power to squeeze ratio. As I do not use this tool every day, only occasionally, it seems to fulfil my requirements very well and by its strong construction, I would imagine that it will last for a long time. I thoroughly recommend this tool for non professional use, but would add that it seems so strong I think in some circumstances professionals should consider this item. Bought this thinking it would be great , but after pulling about 50 rivets it has completely fell apart , was only pulling small fine rivets and it has spectacularly failed, back to using lazy tong riveter

Its a great bit of kit this much easier to use than the horrible single hand things and easier in many ways than the lazy tong riveters, plus catching all the spent shafts does really help with tidy up. I have been using this on Land Rover repair and the only thing to note is this one can be difficult to use close to edges or the handle get in the way a bit in corners or tight spots, but this still is shorter and more maneuverable than many others. The next step to get around this would be an air riveter. I highly recommend this tool.
