alrighty! i've been a customer of bose products for a long time now. my old headphones broke a couple of weeks back so i decided to try out these. first of all i will explain this easily packaging-the packaging for these headphones are very pleasing, the case is made from a durable hard shell and a soft-like linig inside which contained the following items: Velcro strapped zipper pouch, courtesy cards with velcro strapped card holder and molds that you put the headphones on. the rest of the packaging came with airplane adapter, mobile/ipod connectivity cable, spare standard cable, manual and batteries. quality-The build quality for the headphones may look flimsy to the naked eye but when you delve deeper; you notice that they are robustly made; the headphone band is made from aluminum so it's highly unlikely to snap when you extend or bend, the plastic feels very durable too. the only downside to the durability is the mixing of delicate parts with durable parts for example: the inside of the cups only protect the speakers with a cloth like material unlike other headphones that use plastic over it to protect it another build quality that needs addressing are the cables; they are thin and the reinforced areas are under par only slightly but they are still durable unless your planning on attempting to rip the cables apart. other then build quality; the texture quality is SUPERB, the cushions for the ear cups are made of a very soft leather with a "memory foam-like" material inside that molds around your ears to give no pressure anywhere around your ears. that's not all! the underside of the headband also has the cushion for above your head thus making these headphones feel weightless on your head. audio-well what can i say? i knew bose can deliver superior sound systems but the sound quality on the headphones are brilliant; the audio you hear is crisp, clear and very finely polished to deliver this very unique audio. although these headphones were designed for acoustic music; the bass on these are VERY impressive, when you turn it up to the loudest; the bass shakes your ears to hell and still manages to maintain quality without crackling at full volume. Lastly the cherry the tops this off is the noise cancellation. the noise cancellation does what it says on the box, it's also been reviewed to be THE best noise cancellation headphones in the world. when you switch these bad boys on, it feels like your ears are underwater, everyone around you is muffled out and immerses you into a superb music experience. the combination of noise cancellation, crisp audio and deep bass all under one lightweight pair of headphones makes them THE best headphones that i have purchased hands down. justification-my review may sound one sided but now here comes the bad parts: it requires batteries to use, they need to be cleaned inside sometimes and the looks "casual audiophile approach" sure they aren't stylish but they certainly make up for it with the audio! people may say cheap senheissers or sony headphones out perform these but at the end of the day its all poppycock and false information, i've had the headphones what have been mentioned before and they are nowhere near as good as these. judging by the high amount of people searching this topic: "dr dre beats vs bose" i can rightly say that the bose are better audio-wise since i already have dre beat pros and the only superior trait is bass, but the bass overpowers the music and spoils it.Read full review
I bought these headphones primarily to drown out the drone of aircraft engines during flights and they have not disappointed. The noise-cancelling function is exceptional even though it can be a little disconcerting when you first switch them on as you do feel you have dropped into a well. Sound reproduction is also top-notch with a rich bass that can really be appreciated when listening to music files recorded at a high bitrate. Don't expect them to improve the quality of in-flight entertainment audio though but at least you can hear it! The headphones are comfortable to wear with well-padded earpieces that fully enclose the ear, the one downside being that your ears can become quite hot. The headphone lead actually plugs into the side of one of the earpieces via a 3.5mm mini-jack and can therefore also be removed for storage - nice touch. The headphones run on one AAA battery which I haven't exhausted as yet so I can't comment on how long it will last but bear in mind that these headphones will NOT work without a battery. If I'm being picky I would have liked an inline volume control but that's really painting the lily - these are exceptional headphones. Recommended.Read full review
This is my second pair of this particular model. I find the noise blocking to be high quality and the sound is crystal clear. Having purchased this pair as a ‘used’ item it seems it was rarely used and in wonderful condition. The ear cups are snug and comfy and you can wear them for quite some time without any discomfort. Highly recommend.

functionally great but ear pads need to be more substantial and the battery should rechargeable no clue as to what the little inline 'torpedo' switch does

Does what it says on the tin. Fabulous sound quality, amazing noise cancellation---don't be fooled by noise "isolation". Noise cancellation is the only way to go, for comfortable long-haul flights--even unplug them and keep them switched on when you want a peaceful sleep.
