I'm listening to the transcendent "Kitty's Back" on this set as I type. Big Man has just ripped a ferocious four-chorus solo, and I'm drenched in joy. Six months before Born to Run appeared, a month before Steve Van Zandt joined the band, shortly after Max Weinberg and Roy Bittan became permanent members, Bruce and the E-Streeters played the late, lamented Main Point, a club outside Philadelphia that sat maybe 250 people. WMMR-FM Philadelphia (when MMR still WAS "the radio station") broadcast it. For months, maybe years afterward, the station would play "cuts" constantly. It's a "soundboard" recording, but the quality--except for some muddiness in an otherwise unbelievable "New York City Serenade" and a suitably unhinged "Rosalita"--is sparkling clear. As a bonus for all you WMMR-ites, you get a few seconds of the late Ed Sciaky doing the introduction. The yearning, joy, sweet melancholy, freedom (great as he has often been, he and the band have never been as free nor allowed themselves quite the abandon they had before Darkness on the Edge of Town--and it's too easy to forget how tremendous a saxophonist Clarence Clemons is) and sheer ambition on display throughout this two and a half hours is no less than balm for the soul. More than that for this reviewer, this set--played as MMR relentlessly rotated it back then--along with Dylan and the Band's The Basement Tapes almost literally saved my life in an extraordinarily dark time. If you dig Bruce at all--and especially if you treasure the Born-to-Run-and-before Bruce--just buy this.Read full review
Took a little while to get to me but that is to be expected with what is going on in the world right now. The sound quality was awesome and the packaging was simple but good definitely an A plus.

This is a concert from back in the day that every Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band should have if they already don't. It's fantastic!

Brilliant live album; emotion, energy and soul that you just can't replicate in a studio recording. Lovely.
