I needed something light and easy to use but with features of bigger cameras and this delivers well .It takes great photos and the zoom feature is excellent. I couldn't be happier.....

The Ixus 105 is no longer made now but there are still lots of them for sale. Believe it of not a Jessops salesman told me they were one of the best cameras in class ever and went on to say don't pay more than £80 whether new or refurbished. I was lucky getting one with a memory card and a case which they normally come without. I'm a fairly keen photographer and was eager to put my 105 through it's paces. Admittedly I'm already camera savvy but this little beast is just so user friendly! Shot indoors and out and was blown away by the quality of the work. Battery lasts for ever and a day but I still bought another as a back-up for about £2 from China via Ebay. One of the few cameras I've held in my life and can't fault it. I bought this for a young relative at a bargain price. It is just about perfect for a teenager or adult who wants a simple camera. It covers all the basic requirements with the occasional refinement. It takes good pictures in most lighting conditions. The flash and battery life are good compared to other compacts i have used. It is reasonably well made. Its menu system is like other Canon cameras, so if you use a different Canon model you will be at home with this one. Video is one area that lets it down as its standard def only. Having used many compact cameras I would say that Canon has an edge over other manufactures at the moment. You wont find this difference looking at specifications but spend a day taking pictures with a Canon v another brand of similar priced camera and you may find the Canon pictures a little better along with the handling.Read full review
We have two of these in the family. This camera has a bright f2.8 lens which produces sharp results & the battery life is very good. Photos are very impressive and even though this is an older model with a CCD sensor; the images are sharper than many of my newer cameras with CMOS sensors (which are cheaper to manufacture and use less power). The battery is fairly large; considering the tiny size of the camera, so it lasts longer than you would expect. The only negative is that the movies are a basic 640 lines, but the photo quality makes up for that!

PATRICK NOLAN: REPORT ON CANON IXUS 105 I am an eighty three year old person living on a small fixed income; the economic squeeze has not been very kind to me. When I was eighty one of my offspring’s bought me a CANON IXUS 85 IS camera, since then it became a constant companion, I always carried it with me and took many photographs of local interest with it. A couple of months ago I got into my car wearing a rain proof over-jacket with my camera in the right hand pocket, the coat was unfastened and had deep pockets, when I slammed the car’s door there was a sickening thud and I found that my pride and joy camera looked as though it had been hit with a lump hammer! I was very upset at loosing an article that gave me such pleasure and interest. I searched the web and ebay for a replacement, I felt that I could not afford the money to buy a new camera and was looking for one that had been reconditioned, I found that I could buy a CANON IXUS !05, refurbished, direct from the CANON main agents for less than fifty pounds! I was pleased and placed an order. The order arrived very quickly and when I opened it I was more than pleased – I was delighted! I still find it hard to believe that it was not a bran new camera! It was packed in the original box with all the connections and instruction book, it has improvements on my original CANON and I have now used it to photograph one of my grandsons graduating as a Doctor as well as a number of family occasions I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend anyone wanting a small digital camera to go straight to your site. The only downside is that I now find the price has been reduced by £10 making it an even greater bargain than I got!Read full review
