This is a great camera for those who do not have time to be too fussy about their photography, I updated my Canon Powershot A80 to this one after it had taken 8.500 photos, I would say that was value for money, if this Camera behaves as well I will be very happy indeed. I have not mastered all the features as there are so many of them but the clarity is fantastic. I am a florist and I find the MF flower symbol super, you can zoom in very close to a lovely bloom and have an outstanding photo of it. The only thing I absolutely HATE about this is the User Guide - having it on a disc is impossible, if you are out in the middle of nowhere and you want to refer to the manual for a specific setting - it is not a lot of good if your computer is back at home!!!! so you end up having to print off the pages - all 200+ of them.Read full review
It would have been 11/10 if it hadn't eat batteries for breakfast. Got a lot for my money. Very easy to use and just the right size. Always worked with EOS cameras, but this is my first digital and I very pleased it. It takes very good night photos - and through windows without getting any reflex in the photo. Had been looking on this camera for quite a while and I knew that the battery was an issue. Buy this little gem and you get a lot for the money. Wanted a small camera, but still feel that I'm working with a camera and not a mobile phone. This is just the right size and load of things to play around with. Really recommend it. The seller where Canon, so even it was a refubished I put my full trust into my buy.
Had an A 630 which travelled with me round the world took loads of pictures that were good enough, not amazing but mainly I used it as a video camera and captured hours of footage of my kids for my golden years and for them to look at when they are older. eventually after years of abuse the flash stopped working then the front shutter fell out with help from my 2yr old.so a replacement was needed enter the sx100is...so far its been brilliant, a little hungrier battery wise than the 630 but only holds half the batteries so may be similar, would recommend the mains power unit whilst downloading to the computer, its only 10 quid or so. The zoom is great as is the quality of the pictures taken so far, with the image stabilisation the video is so much better than the 630. The layout is very easy to get on with, good looking in black, mine was in good nick, like new for 75 quid so very happy with it,hope it lasts as long as the 630 did.Read full review
This is a nice camera, it has a nice solid feel to it and i'd gladly take this camera around with me instead of a bulkier SLR. With a handy 8 mega-pixels, it should be a nice piece of kit. The pictures are sharp and the rotating Function-Set wheel is a very handy feature. I've had this camera approximately month and love it. However, the battery life is disgraceful and Canon should be ashamed to manufacture such a lovely piece of equipment, then inflict it on the buyer, who then have to pay through the nose for new batteries, or constantly interrupt their day out shooting by changing or recharging them. The camera only takes two AA batteries. Four would've made so much more sense, but Canon probably felt that even with two batteries, the camera was already a little weighty, so they went with two. This is why I feel that this is a pretty average effort from Canon.Read full review
Attending on it's price it's one of the best cameras around, It's even better than its successor, the sx110 IS. The IS stands for Lens IMAGE STABILIZER and it works great when using it's maximum aperture. It turns out to be also capable of capturing half decent video, at a 640 480 resolution and 30fps, with acceptable noise levels even under dim lightning conditions.
