Castlevania Judgment is, for myself anyway, a difficult game to judge as it does many things well and many things horribly. I suppose i should start with the negatives, the game runs at a fairly slow frame rate, for fighting games at least, and the camera is HORRIBLE, sometimes getting caught on one character blocking the entire arena or so far zoomed out it is impossible to see what it is you're doing as a final note for now sometime the A.I. and difficulty can skyrocket making the game stressful and not in a good way. Now, for the good parts, it offers a diverse set of challenges in it's 'Castle' mode, which is like a mission mode from other fighters where you must complete a fight under a certain condition such as 'Finish the fight with a Sub-Weapon', which means it can extend it's play time by a good few hours. It also features the ability to unlock additional characters and items to customize your character's look (my favorite has to be putting sunglasses and a clown nose on Alucard) which is a feature lost in most fighting games today. Judgement also features a 'Story Mode' which revolves around each character, this is both a good and horrific experience to live through, the voice acting (if you can call it that) and dialogue are some of THE WORST i have ever heard from a video game (no word of a lie, Maria, who is 16-ish, talks about and STARES are the other female fighters boobs and comments on them, oh how i wish i was making that up) it is all that is wrong with english dub in games and anime, however in a really sick and twisted way i like this (not the boob talk), because it is SO horrible and SO bad it is actually really funny, but to be brutally honest i like Trevor Belmont's voice and i tend to enjoy Aeon's voice as well. One of the most criticized aspect's of this game is the artwork, done by Takeshi Obota whom people will recognize from Death Note, is fairly hit and miss in my opinion, i personally think that Alucard, Golem and Aeon as well as Cornell, are quite well designed, in the case of Cornell, it brings something new to the Werewolf look and feel which is nice, HOWEVER in stark contrast Trevor, Dracula, Simon and Death in-particular are not very well designed, Death especailly as i feel Obota was trying to infuse the classical Grim Reaper type design with that of a Death God (or Shimigami) from his work on Death Note and unfortunately, as much as i respect the idea, it fails to work and Death just looks bad, looking more like a petrified tree than anything. The music is one of the few things i don't have a problem with, at all, it's all remixes for the main fight themes (when you face Simon for example the 'Vampire Killer' remix really sets the tone for an epic battle) and i liked it so much that i imported the CD from Australia and I play it whenever i feel like it, even the menu music isn't horrific which is nice in a video game these days (sorry Sonic Racing Transformed, your menu music SUUUCKS) In terms of gameplay and controller responsiveness, i only play with the Classic Controller plugged into a Wiimote but that is very responsive, little to no delay in my commands and feels fluid, it might feel like button mashing half the time but the simplistic combo mechanic can be shockingly deep, using sub-weapons to continue combos for example or combo into your big cinematic attack (that you can never skip...ever) Personally i enjoy judgement but it is NOT to everyone's likes or tastes 3/5Read full review
