Play this DVD at any random chapter and you would be forgiven for thinking you are watching a segment from "Top Gear" itself. Jeremy Clarkson is as forthright with his opinions as ever and drives around in lots of flash expensive supercars yelling "POWER!!" a lot and still finds time to be as childish as usual in maxing out a car at 200mph on the German autobahns and fitting a home-made rocket-launcher to the side of another car to take out speed cameras, police cars and double-decker buses. There is even a cameo from a certain white-suited and helmeted anoymous racing driver, so it almost feels like an extended episode of "Top Gear" that you've not seen before. Almost. The thing is, there are a couple of things that are missing - namely Captain Slow and the Hamster. Sure, May was probably too busy making the latest series of his wine programme, and Hammond was wheeling a couple of shopping trollies of cash from Morrisons for fronting their latest advertising campaign, but it's while watching Clarkson trying to front the DVD himself that you realise what a difference Hammond and May make to the team, and that "Thriller" just isn't quite the same. It's just missing that little something extra. It'd be an acceptable substitute during those months that "Top Gear" is not on the TV, but you can't beat the real thing. Sooner or later, this will be in the bargain bin at your local store, and priced at about £5, would be an excellant purchase. But at the full RRP of £15, its just overpriced even for rabid "Top Gear" fans like myself - even the so-called "special features" aren't that special. A fun way to spend 70 minutes, but the parent TV show is better.Read full review
OK! so where do I start.... Its Jeremy Clarkson on a DVD without Hammond or May to prop him up... Though he is more than quite capable to do this by himself... From the outset he's is undoubtably out to have fun with all the vehicles on the program... This comes across in copious bucket amounts. All the cars featured have been on Top Gear at one point or another. So to have them altogether on the DVD is a treat. I bought the DVD for the main reason of I enjoy watching Top Gear... Nothing more, Nothing Less... Clarkson is a bit like Marmite... You either love him, or loath him.... I for one love him... If you love the style of Top Gear, you'll love how this DVD is produced... Lots of Action, Cars, and in general Top Gear fashion Lots and lots of cocking about.... Buy it, You'll love it!
This DVD is absolutly brilliant if you are like me and love Top Gear then this DVD is for you it's everything you expect and more from Jeremy Clarkson. It does cover a few cars you may have seen from a few Top Gear episodes but is no way a repeat. I loved every 1 hour and 20 minutes of it and some bits were hilarious espically were The Stig pushes Jeremy as he was angry about being in a car what got blown up. Overall this DVD in a nutshell as Jeremy Clarkson says "epic" This is one DVD I will never tire of rewatching!!
