Fargo has William H. Macy as the unfortunate loser we have all met who is doomed to failure whatever he does. He pays two psychotics (Peter Stormare and John Buscemi) to kidnap his wife in order to scam his irritating rich father in law. Of course, it doesn't go to plan. Frances McDormand is the police chief sent to work out the mess. A beautiful yarn with an memorable climax. In the very funny comedy Raising arizona, Nicholas Cage and Holly Hunter can't have their own child so they decide to kidnap one of the local quintuplets and raise him as their own. Miller's Crossing tells of gangland prohibition days with the always brilliant Albert Finney at the helm. Gabriel Byrne is fantastic as his wise cracking, double dealing right hand man. A powerful tale that has a great sense of authenticity and a fabulous ending. All three films are wonderfully directed and have the specific edge and multi-layered qualities associated with the best of the Coen brothers' work.Read full review
