I got these strings as a try-out of hybrid gauges. I used to use nines, went to tens and now have these D'Addarios on my Tele and Strat. I like the thicker strings on the bottom. I get less buzz and more tone and they're great for power chords. There appears to be bigger and clearer bass overtones.

These are definitely the best guitar strings I have ever had the pleasure of playing. Easy to tune, stable and a tonal quality that excels. You pay for what you get and these strings are of the highest sonic quality. They have taken my playing to another level. You will be amazed.

I have been playing for 64 years. I am a retired pro who has played hundreds of arena gigs in the US and toured Europe, Japan and so on. These strings are about three times as costly but retaining their strength and tone for 4-5 times longer than standard strings. d’Addario are, in truth, copying a Viennese company, Thomastic Infeld. Infeld charge about 25% more to achieve the same result and d’Addario are challenging their market share, if I’m not mistaken. Both are simply excellent and worth trying, as it happens. However, d’Addario win on price, as things stand. Therefore, I have just moved over to them and have already started recommending them successfully. Not to use them, is a false economy. You get what you pay for as a rule. Personally, I pay more.... and I get more. d’Addario XLNY = XLNT!!!!Read full review
