DARE are an intriging band who, after 20 years are still relatively unknown. Their first outing "Out Of The Silence" is quite possibly one of the greatest AOR albums of all time. Their second "Blood trom Stone;" a rousing excursion into melodic heavy rock/metal. Their third, "Calm Before The Storm" an extremely mild Radio 2-style of easy-listening rock, which brings me to the album at hand - Belief! In a similar tempo to "Calm Before The Storm," "Belief" is one of the most melodic of all of DARE's albums with a string of emotionally swooping melodies which makes fine use of Darren Wharton's powerful vocals. It also introduces what appears to be the style which the band have finally settled upon; a unique form of Celtic ballad-rock. It is their fourth album and their fourth different style of music, demonstrating the extreme talent and verstility of it's performers. Their follow up album "Beneath The Shining Water" stands well with "Belief." It will be interesting to see if their forthcoming album "Arc of Dawn" manages to maintain the quality and beauty of its two predecesors.Read full review
Bought this on the strenght of a Thin Lizzy member being in it that contributed in a big way on the Thunder and Lightening LP years ago. Well, dont fall down the path that I believed was something in a similar sound, because it isnt. Where Jimmy and Scott's bands after Lizzy tried to keep us rockin, this is more the early celtic Lizzy sound. If you like Irish bagpipes with a middle of the road sound, buy it. If you are a Lizzy fan, be at least in your 60's and like chillin music.
Distinctive sound of Dare but a bit more mellow than the previous albums. Bought it as I hadn't heard any of their stuff for a while and was not disappointed. Didn't dislke any of it
the celtic tones where graet i think it need moor rock darren you need to go on the road like you did at the in oldham years ago
