Here we see a vulnerable Eric Northman with lots of Werewolf action (always a winning combination). Cursed with amnesia, Eric's memory loss is the result of a supernatural turf war against blood drinking, shape shifting Witches. Vampires, Werewolves, Were-panthers and Wiccans have to work together in an uneasy alliance and, as usual, Sookie Stackhouse is in the middle of things. Bill goes all the way to Peru and then comes back again. Charlaine Harris has a very easy style and way of writing that draws the reader in and keeps them hooked from beginning to end. The use of first person perspective (Sookie) is balanced and Harris has a real gift for dialogue. The narrative is fast paced and even minor characters are well drawn. Dead to the World is an excellent read and highly recommended.
This installment of the True Blood series is just as compelling as all that preceed it. It opens up the supernatural world even more, bringing to life other beings Sookie thought to be confined to the fictional world. As funny as ever, and with adrenaline fuelled action and fight scenes, this book is a great read and sequel to the previous books.
