It really does tick all the boxes .... automatically sensing voltage, battery condition and incorrect polarity so protects itself and the battery from my own clumsiness and stupidity. Best of all it can be left connected 24/7/365 without risk of stressing the battery and, should there be a power-outage, resets and carries on when the power returns needing no user intervention. I have a second home and vehicle in a region prone to power cuts, so I'm hopeful that this unit should guarantee that I'll never again have to perform CPR on a comatose car after a long flight. At 1/3 of the cost of the unit it replaces it's superior in every respect.

The charger worked well and charged my battery efficiently with indicator lights showing rate of charge and battery capacity. The unit can be used with a wide range of mains voltages but the only downside was that it was fitted with a 2-pin mains shaver type plug which meant I had to change it for a 3-pin 13A plug fitted with a 3 amp fuse. The mains lead is also extremely short and needed an extension lead. The unit was marked with a CE label so presumably it was safe to use.

I bought it because my old diesel car didn't start after staying for three weeks in unheated garage (temperatures around freezing). First I charged battery with traditional big current charger but wanted to have something that I can leave safely for extended periods - as I'm cyclist by nature and don't use my car very often. Behavior of this charger seems to be very correct and safe. First, it checks battery voltage and starts initial charging. Voltage goes up until battery is 100% charged (4 bars on display). Then charging apparently stops as voltage drops to healthy 12,8 volt or so. When I connected charger after long drive I could observe all process going fast as battery was already well charged. This behavior lets me to believe that I can leave this thing on without the danger of overcharging - unlike the simple charger. P.S. As three weeks for my battery to self discharge seemed to me a bit too short (battery is only three years old) I also checked my car. I found that ground wire from battery had a bad connection (it generated heat) and car didn't charge battery as it should (only 13 v or less). That was the reason for all trouble. Anyway I'm going to use this charger in the winter months as it doesn't hurt to have battery always fully charged while you cycle.Read full review

I currently have several Ctek chargers and recently discovered these which are a fraction of the price. This charger functions perfectly and is by no means inferior in quality or operation. Some cheaper chargers are fiddlely to find the correct mode of charge, these are very easy to operate, even an old duffer with bad eyesight like me can use these! Definitely worth a look at less than half the price of others.

This charger has proven its worth by reviving two very depleted car batteries back to 100% charge very quickly. This is in danger of becoming one of my most useful tools and a very strong favourite. It is light, very simple to use, small and powerful. The tiny cooling fan startled me as most chargers are silent. A charger of great benefit and value. Long may it live!
