The box set includes two of the best stories from the original run of Doctor Who. The Talons of Weng-Chiang starring Tom Baker and The Caves of Androzani starring Peter Davison. Excellent examples of impressive costume, prop and set design. Excellent scripting and direction and very good incidental music. The TV Movie has divided fans of the series since it premiered in 1996 but the direction, design and music are excellent as are the performances of Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann.I particularly like the use of Puccini's Madam Butterfly in the musical score. Excellent TARDIS set BUT... just a little too American!! Calling the Chameleon Circuit a Cloaking Device sums it up really. Surely, ever the American's could understand that one!! Oh, yes the Doctor also turns into Mr Spock and is suddenly half Human! NO NO NO!!! I'll stop there. McGann is brilliant.Read full review
Three great classic episodes, which not only allow the viewer to see some great adventures from the 70's 80's and 90's, but also giving a taste of three different doctors. Talons is a great 70s classic with Tom Baker (4th doctor) full of hammer horror inspired happenings and some great writing from Bob Holmes. Creepy and fun. The Caves is the final episode of Peter Davison (5th doctor) and again written by Bob Holmes. This 80's classic is considered a real gem of the JNT era. It also marks the explosive regeneration into Colin Baker (6th doctor). The 1996 TV Movie is maybe an example of what could have been had the show been successful in the USA. Although the film itself is not brilliant. The casting of Paul Mcgann as the (8th doctor) is inspired! We also get to see Sylvester McCoy (7th doctor) return to regenerate. The new interior of the tardis has clearly had an impact on the design of the 2005 series. Some Great performances from Paul Mcgann and Daphne Ashbrooke who are the saviour of this adventure in many ways. Also included are some fantastic making of documentaries and some amazing commentaries plus much more. If you haven't yet got these adventures, then I recomend buying these as they show different aspects from the shows history. A good selection of WHO!Read full review
