Having waited fifty years to see this in any format at all, it was always going to be disappointing. But it's hard to overstate just how disappointing the animation on this is. Compared to the Cosgrove Hall work on some other Doctor Who restorations (Invasion, for instance) this is sub-South Park stuff with characters mincing sideways instead of moving up and down screen and wobbling their heads to display emotion. There are also some embarrassing moments when everything just stops. Animated Doctor Who has to be better than this otherwise there's no point: you might as well stick to the audio versions--or do what they did on "Web of Fear" and use stills and captions. In its original format, Power of the Daleks was one of the great Doctor Whos from the Troughton era; it deserved better than this.Read full review
