I have always been surrounded by an eclectic appreciation for music, and grew up listening to country music, among other styles - But in the last few years, my love of Dolly Parton, the person, and the talent, has come to the point where I am now a fan! I know I've never met her, and don't know her, but I've seen her interviewed; she's very shrewd, but utterly generous, and she knows what's what about herself, and other subjects! As a result of becoming a fan, I am adding more and more, as much as I can manage/afford, to my Dolly Parton CD & film collection... The Best Of Album, which goes by the name of her most famous single, Jolene, is really one of the best of many CDs of hers available out there! I have rather a collection of her songs now, but even this, from '94, yet another Greatest Hits, haa some songs on it I've not managed to collect, until now! - Yet for those who are buying a Greatest Hits of Dolly Parton's for the first time, it honestly does have some of her Greatest Hits on it!! Most of them are penned by Dolly, though it does have some covers, but it isn't over-run with them! It's got a bit of everything; sweetness, fun, heartbreak, lessons learnt, good and bad - All of the things we listen to songs for to begin with, all the things we listen to music for, so that it can help us express our feelings, even if we do so without saying a word; while it sings out loud, and we just process our lives! Or alternatively, if we sing about stuff, loud as we want, to say what we have not managed to until we have heard a song - Whether or not anyone else knows why we're singing it! Dolly Parton is the greatest at just helping you along; whether you need your day cheered, or a song to sing to, which, for your own reasons, you can identify with!! Please, give this CD a try; listen to what Dolly has to say - Give her the time of day!!Read full review
