Brilliant. Bette Midler? It's got to be good.

A very good piece of entertainment, but would have liked to see more of Bette Midler in the film. Her part as to short. Being such a stylish, beautiful entertainer as she is.

I'll admit the only reason I even picked this DVD up in the shop was because of the £1 price tag. A big sticker displaying its lowly price tag dominated the box, and that coupled with recognisable names on the cover (Danny Devito, Jamie Lee Curtis, Bette Midler...)was incitement enough for me to buy it. I've picked up a few budget films before now and most are average at best, but this one restored my faith in bargain hunting. It's a charming, quirky and often amusing comedy that entertained throughout. I don't expect this movie to appeal to everyone, there are no big belly laughs on offer, nor does it contain the kind of gross out comedy of scary movie and it's ilk. But for lazy sunday afternoon viewing, this kind of film, that requires no concentration can't be beat. My recommendation would be to give Drowning Mona a go, especially if you can get hold of a copy for a pound.Read full review
Very silly, very funny comedy about a police chief investigating a woman's death and discovering that just about everyone had a motive for killing her! Top drawer cast (including Danny DeVito, Bette Midler and Jamie Lee Curtis) turns in great performances and creates truly original characters. The sort of film that makes you chuckle next day as you remember highlights. .
