They called it the slaughter of the innocents. The barely trained and poorly equipped men of the labour divisions were never meant to fight, but when the German blitzkreig sliced through the Allied armies they were all that stood in the way of the annihilation of the British Expeditionary Force.

  • The value of the 'Digging' Territorials during the fall of France

This book provided details about the line of communication support to the BEF during the German Invasion of the low countries, particularly Belgium and France. The detailed analysis of the way in which the Territorial 'Digging' troops were put into the breach because there was none other first line troops was very sobering and provided a much better appreciation of their value and efforts during the fall of France. As such it provides a source of information that should be appreciated by all students of World War 2.
