Elvis's second album was his first with the Attractions, and it's a powerful record. The cover shows him peering over an old-fashioned camera, making it clear that he's not the model in question but an interested, and often disgusted, observer. Costello was angry, and he wanted the world to know it. There are no conventional love songs on the album, the mood is sparse, tight, urgent. The band is superb throughout. There are six bonus tracks included with this release, and if few of them are essential it's always handy to have the single 'Radio Radio' - one of his most vitriolic songs - on CD.
I had forgotten how good Elvis was first time around until I heard Mark Lamar play Lipstick Vogue on the radio...then I remembered! Attitude, intelligence great music I love it.
