Being a television mini-series movie about Mount Everest I thought that the production would be mediocre but I was pleasantly surprised. It was very well done with a mix of real Everest scenery, the actors actually in Kathmandu, the rock-climbing scene at the start filmed on a real peak possibly in the Rocky-Mountains, most of the snow slope climbing and glacial scenes were filmed in the peaks of North America I'm guessing which was great by keeping it real. Finally most of the glacial props looked very believable. The acting overall was good and solid, the individual characters were well defined in their own right especially as the film moved along. More so the climbers. The film moved at a good pace and intensified as it went right to the climatic ending. I'd never heard of this 1982 expedition and I felt that the story was told in great detail and I was impressed enough to buy the book on this Canadian expedition.Read full review
