Most bench grinders come with two stones, a heavy grit, and a medium grit, this one comes with a wider, fine grit one that's ideal for knives and finishing off chisels making this machine more versatile and a good 'all-rounder'. It is surprisingly quiet with a not unpleasant hum. The thicker (screw-in) rubber feet must contribute to dumbing down the vibration. Unlike the lesser powered 150w versions, this 250w is powerful enough for most tasks. I'm pleased I opted to spend a little more and avoid the cheaper alternatives. A pair of goggles was included which is a must for any machine like this.

I bought this grinder as I wanted a wider, fine wheel for sharpening my lathe tools. This grinder got a mixed bag of reviews and I guess some are lucky enough to get one that is balanced out of the box. The price was too good to be true at less than £40 and it turns out that you really do get what you pay for in this case. The body of the grinder is made up of alloy cast sides and a thin tin middle cover plate, the bottom is a plastic cover, there's no real weight to it and they are not built like they used to be! The wheels both run out of true both laterally and diametrically which makes for s very unbalanced grinder which even when fixed to a heavy bench will want to shake the bench quite violently! This is not do much the fault of the grinder itself, but the poor manufacturing of the wheels. Which mean you have to try and refit the wheels in the best orientation and or shim them to get them running laterally true, then true the wheel diametrically with a diamond, wheel dressing/trueing tool. An extra expense in time and effort. You can find this grinder rebranded under various names for s ride variety of prices and I would avoid all of them and buy a proper heavily made one, possibly an older second hand one and buy a set of quality wheels to suit! This is only my opinion, from my own experience.Read full review

If you want a reasonable priced, well fabricated grinder that can take a lot of metal off quickly and easily this is for you. However I bought this because I wanted the wide grinding wheel for sharpening wood turning chisels. The wheel itself seems ok but the speed of the unit is high, meaning that it is very easy to overheat the chisel or grind too much off.
