Lucy Irvine is undoubtedly a very good writer, and this book is an absorbing account of a year spent in the Solomons. If I have one complaint about her writing style it is that, if anything, she is too descriptive. Sometimes she spends so much time describing the trees that the view of the wood is completely obscured. Nevertheless, this is a very readable and enjoyable account of this chapter of her eventful life.
