I bought this CD and other début albums by young talent show contestants simply for the fun of comparing them. The others are: "One Voice" by Andrew Johnston,(He came 3rd in Britain's Got Talent 2008) Bianca Ryan, (Won America's Got Talent 2006, and the forthcoming "Hollie" by Hollie Steel, (finalist in Britain's Got Talent 2009) I have played Faryl's album three times now and although she certainly has a very fine voice, I find the performances here are too studied and safe to be entertaining. I intend to write a full review soon but do not have the time just now so I will summarize thus. Having this album playing is a bit like having you favourite auntie round to babysit you. (Imagine you are the child.) Instead of reading you a bedtime story she sings to you. And she's GOOD. I mean, she really can sing beautifully! You feel very proud to have a member of your family who can sing so well. And the way she sings is perfect because, at bedtime, you don't want to be excited or inspired; you want to be soothed.Read full review
I was driving with the radio playing the song Ave Maria and when the track finished and Faryl Smith was named as the singer I liked her voice so much,I just had to buy this amazing young singers CD. Her voice for her age is so clear and mature and even the higher octave notes seem to flow so easily. I can honestly say there are no tracks that I don't like. This CD is good value for money and I can't wait for her next album.
What a voice for a young woman of her age,she can only improve with age thats if she needed to.One of the best easy listening cd.s I have ever bought.
