Great axe for the cash, nice and sharp, it has a non stick coating but it will eventually come off, but that's no big deal, easy to keep sharp (to sharpen) not a heavy axe so good to work with for long lengths of time, although it's made of a plastic type of material it is very strong, one thing I would avoid is having it too near heat so no poking the camp fire with it.

I wanted a small good quality hatchet as my other was quite a bit heavier ... I knew that Fiskars was a top quality manufacturer and I read some reviews on this and the X5 ... The X5 was just a bit too short and light in weight, so I opted for the X7. It arrived very quickly and I checked the cutting edge ... It was pretty sharp to begin with and in a very short period of time was touched up to a near perfect edge ... Not quite able to shave with, but not far off ... With a bit more time spent on it, it really would have been ultra sharp ... When it needs to be touched up again, I will take more time on it and eventually use a strop to make it perfect ... As it is, it is a superb and handy size hatchet ... If you are reasonably happy with sharpening your own chisels and hand-planes, this will be a small axe that will last for many, many years and as such is well worth the money. If you need to know how to sharpen your axe, look on Utube for a method where you need to use a "Sharpie" marker to define the blade edge ... It makes it easier to see the edge being sharpened ... Also invest in some decent sharpening stones ... This axe is an investment possibly for the next generation and beyond.Read full review

Good balance, a great tool for the price! The bright yellow handle helps me see it during my nocturnal chopping activities - really! A great axe to go camping. One can also use the plastic keeper to fix to kit.

Lovely light weight and effective axe for my grandchildren and I to use, as amateur Bushcrafters. Must remember to supervise my 10yr old when they teach their 2yr old sibling how to use the axe.... Bump!! Ouch! Aaaaargh!! As it clonks the 2yr old’s head - big funny bruised egg! Ah - how will I explain that at the Hospital? .... The grandchild was fine... Anyway it was no reflection on this excellent little axe - perfect for making a Den and collecting/preparing firewood

Fantastic hand axe for chopping kindling ! Lightweight and comes with a blade protector for transportation and storage. Makes light work of 8" - 12" long split logs and can give you a large basket full of dry kindling in the same 10 minutes it would take to drive to the shops.
