The write up was intriguing and the film certainly turned out to be that exactly. An American socialite considers she has a decent voice and all her so called friends lead her to believe so. Eventually she gives a concert and becomes an overnight sensation. Meryl Streep in the title role gives her usual top class performance while Hugh Grant, beginning to show his age a bit, gives a good show as her companion. This is a film well worth watching.

I enjoyed this film because the characters are very engaging, and I like that it's based on a true story. Meryl Streep is as good as she always is, and her singing is hilarious which I didn't really expect. Simon Helberg is somewhat recognisable as Howard but not so much that you lose his character in this film, and he plays the part very well. As for Hugh Grant, I think he just gets better with age and he's great in this. Definitely worth a watch.

Great actors and a good story, especially being based on real life events.

This film is just lovely, happy and sad , you really want her to sing at a concert and for people to love her , she is so funny and kind, curl up with a drink of tea and enjoy, you will not be disappointed, I had seen it twice then bought the dvd for myself , to watch on a cinema screen, fantastic,

I had heard records of Miss Jenkins singing some time ago, so it was interesting to follow the story of her and her indulgent husband.
