I bought this to begin to introduce my son to times tables, he is in year 2 at school and they have been counting in twos, fives, tens etc so decided I could start now. The book starts very basic so will help them progress right from the bottom which definetely helps inbed the foundations and gives them the confidence to keep going. My son was so proud he could do it that I don't think he realised he was doing harder stuff as he went on as it flows seemlessly to the next level. Lots of practice and revisiting what you've learnt too. I suggest working through the easier times tables first rather than through book in order, ie 2s,5s, 10s, 1s then coming back to 3s and 4s etc to keep them interested and not hit a hurdle that puts them off.I think it will take a while to work through and needs pacing. I have purchased a number of Kumon books recently and found them all brilliant, I have always done stuff at home with my child but these they need to do alone, to build on how to work things out for themselves, ideal for him to do while I'm cooking tea. Bonus also that his handwriting is improving too while completing these books. Even have friends with dyslexic children who have benefitted loads from the graded books. The approach used in this book takes the learner from basic concepts to complex ones in a step by step manner. This method is very effective as far as deep learning is concerned.
