Got this to help lay patio paving..something I’ve done many times in the past using wheel barrow, muscle and spade to mix the mortar.Just wish this had been available years ago.Makes this kind of work much much easier. The machine itself was easy enough to put together even without any instruction manual..quite noisy in operation so a bit of thick grease on the drive mechanism to smooth it along. All in all very good value..certainly worth the money.

In my many many years of putting things together, this has peaked the top of the list of dire instructions and bits missing. Had to supply several of my own nuts and bolts. None of the nuts and bolts that came with the kit were numbered correctly, there was a "correction" sheet that was also wrong. It was very awkward. The paddles inside were the worst and required significant bending to get in to position. It's got a massive DIY job coming up next week, if it lasts for that maybe it will be forgiven a little.

I bought this, as opposed to hiring a mixer, to build a long garden wall, a DIY task. At the price, even if I throw it away after the job, it was worth the money. It is quiet and handles the sand and cement well, giving a good mix if left to work. It takes 4 large shovels of sand plus one of cement to give a reasonable amount of material in each load. It came disassembled in a relatively small box so would be easy to take apart to sell on or give away. Disassembled, it would fit in any reasonable size car boot. The only criticism I have is that the instructions were dreadful, seemingly translated badly from another language, with poor photos. There is obviously a logic to how to put the mixer together, but relying on just the instructions would be frustrating and assembly would take a morning at least. Also, the various bolts came in labelled bags, but the label letters did not match the instructions and two bolts were missing, which I had to supplement from my own stock. Overall however, I have found this mixer to do the job I need quite well. It is very good for DIY, but not large enough for commercial use. At the price, this seems to be a sturdy machine.Read full review

I bought this as opposed to hiring one, it cost about the same as hiring for 2 weeks once you added damage waiver fee and delivery/collection etc. I had read other reviews and saw a few reports about how small this is and even one saying it kept cutting out but decided to give it a go anyway. There is some self assembly to do which although the instructions are typically poor english it was quite straight forward to assemble. The most complicated bit is making sure you get the internal blades the right way round. I found when installing the seal betweek the two halves it paid to progressively tighten each bolt in several cyclic stages so you could keep pressing the seal into the join properly. Yes it is small, but i found making an average mix of 3:1 i could get 9 good shovel fulls of sand in and the 3 cement and then however much water i needed depending on my requirement of stiffness. I was landscaping my back garden over 2 solid weeks and this little mixer was running constantly for 10 hours a day for most of that 2 weeks and never let me down despite the typical british summer weather. Make sure you clean it thoroughly at the end of each day. One other note was when i had assembled it and ran it empty i could see the drum wasnt running in a smooth circular motion and i could also see part of the drum rim had a bit of a bent part so used a mallet to straighten it up, problem solved. One other tip would be once assembled put grease on the bearings and also the slotted track that the sprocket runs in on the underside of the drum rim, keeps everything running smooth and also will help repel water. For anyone who hasnt used a cement mixer before, the easiest and most effective way of cleaning after use is to put a good amount of water into the drum whilst it is running then chuck half a dozen or so good sized round pebbles in. One or two will get wedged into the fins/blades but the rest will roll around with the water and knock off any bits of stuck cement from the inside, then just tip into your bucket, remove pebbles and give drum a final rinse, tip it so the drum is facing the floor to drain/dry, job done! Cement mixer owes me nothing now after completing my garden and being small it doesnt take up much space in my garage. Hope this has been of use to you.Read full review

When we received the item it was well packed.. all parts were contained.. However.. the instructions could have been a little clearer.. and the fixings could be better organised... we had to guess lots in the end because the packets didn’t tally with the instructions- for example step A required 4 bolts from pack 2 ( pack two only had 2 bolts which were not the right size ) and then it turned out to be pack 5 which had what we needed... also when we went to for the motor to the side.. it wouldn’t fit flush to the frame as the engine mount bolts stuck out too much ... having said all this once we had put it all together the mixer did a fab job so good value for money but obviously only for light work and domestic projects... I’d definitely not want one for any industrial work !!
