This almost entirely plastic product does not have the integral strength required to do the job. I have had to halve or even quarter potatoes to get them through and the amount of flexure in the components does not inspire confidence - indeed, one of the two pivots has already become damaged when the retaining catch broke off during use and was discovered during cleaning. I cannot recommend this for anything more than the smallest of potatoes. It is supplied with two cutter grids, but they are the same size, and it may have been a good idea to supply a choice of cutter size to make small and large chips. The only thing I can say in favour of this is that it is easy to clean, as long as this is done immediately. I have had to start looking for a more substantial piece of equipment, probably in stainless steel, and there could be a case to make that this at least demonstrated the feasibility of home chip making to someone who had never done it before.Read full review

Been after a potato chipper for some time now and when this one came up at the price on offer I decided to take the plunge and buy it. I've been chipping my spuds with a knife for the last 20 odd years but do remember us having a potato cutter when I was a child and it was fun using it. After un-[acking it and giving it a good wash before use I set too and got my potatoes out and halved one as the hoder isn't that big and proceeded to try and slice my first batch of chips and was immediately disappointed when I was getting flakes of round pieces of plastic stuck in the potato and when I repeated it again more plastic pieces were embedded in the potato from the pusher. The holder will only hold a small potato and it's also difficult to push hard to squeeze it threw the slicer as if you put to much pressure on it, it feels like it's going to break. Would I recommend it? No. upon closer inspection the potato slicer is just a cheap over-inflated priced item. Is it good value for money? No. It's cheaply made and the holder part isn't big enough to put a potato of any size in to slice. It's quicker to do it by hand with a sharp knife. Is it good quality? No. It's made of nothing but plastic a part from the slicing blades for making the chips or fries. The handle feels like it's going to break when you put pressure on it to push a potato through the blades and the pusher plate leaves bits of itself embedded in the potato chips after it's been pushed through. Like the title says, save your money and invest into a more sturdy and robust potato slicer like a metal one.Read full review

The advert said there were two cutters and would make French fries and chips. I expected two different sized cutters, one for French fries the other for, more chunky chips. Both cutters are the same size and only make French fries. A little disappointing.

Looked great when it arrived, used it a couple of times with no problems, went to use it the other day and it wouldn't work properly,I was having pry pushing the potato through,on inspection I found the hinge connection had broken,a small piece of plastic had come off and the whole thing just wouldn't work, needless to say it's now in the dustbin,so I wasted my money Can't put no to my answers as review won't allow
