Having first watched Imogen Heaps version of Blanket with Jeff Beck at Ronnie Scotts recently I was quite enchanted by her stage presence and voice. Frou Frou is a collaboration album where Imogen does all the singing. Its a very chilled out album. The vocals are haunting and melancholic. The Instrumental backing on the album is primarily electro in its essence incorporating guitars, pianos, trumpets and percussion throughout the album. Imogens vocals are beautiful and incomparable to any artist I know. Frou Frou have a unique flavour. Influences are probably drawn from bands like the cocteau twins and maybe All About Eve and Dubstar. If you like dreamy melancholic well sung female vocals backed with well mixed and orchestrated electronica then like me you won't be dissappointed with this little Gem.Read full review
I decided to buy this CD because I am a massive fan of Imogen Heap. She is brilliant and this album doesn't disappoint. The album consists of 12 tracks of deep, thought provoking tracks by Frou Frou. I would definitely recommend it for someone who is into her genre of music. Psychobabble is probably my favourite song on the CD, it represents some of the best of Imogen Heap, boasting a powerful melody which provokes a lot of emotion. Definitely 5 stars. Beautiful stuff.
I bought Frou Frou because it uses the Vocals of Imogen Heap and also heard their track "let go" on the soundtrack for "The Holiday" already loving Heap i had to buy it. the album is nice and summery and well worth a listen xx
Excellent Album, fantastic voice, brilliant accompanying musical arrangement if you like Beth Orton- give it a try!
