Works fine on the old doors also if you take the box down from over the door DO NOT UNDO THE FOUR NUTS FIRST! I do not recommend only replacing one cable . Make sure you check how the old cables run before you remove them There are bolt holes to secure the TENSIONED springs in place. Hopefully, you have the original thumb screw securing bolts if not you will have to use a suitable bolt or a strong rod Do everything off the wall and replace the whole assembly .With the springs pretensioned so the cables are tangling loose fit the whole assembly back on the wall or wooden lintel THEN FIT THE CABLE LOOPS TO THE DOOR Pull on the cables slightly to take any pressure off the temporary bolts and remove them so the springs are now tensioning the cables USE GLOVES TO DO THIS EXPECT it to take you 1 hour if you have not done it before Again : DON'T REMOVE THE FOUR BOLTS ON THE FRONT OF THE SPRING ASSEMBLYRead full review

Excellent delivery and ensuring that I took all the necessary precautions it fitted easier than I expected but it does need a second pair of hands at one point.
