I bought these to water plants while on holiday, but they weren't any use at all. I am glad I did some testing first. I'd recommend you avoid this design entirely and look for the ceramic ones used with glass bottles. These spikes empty 2 litres of water out in about 1 - 2 hours, even on the slowest setting. They have something to supposedly slow the water flow, but I tried on the tightest (slowest) setting and still water flowed straight out. I used with Sainsbury's own brand bottles, plus Coke bottles - both listed as suitable. Tested both with/without the small tubes supplied. Additionally, the tubes supplied (for supplying air into the bottle, so it doesn't become a vacuum presumbly?) don't stay in the spike without modification - they are too loose, so they fall out immediately when you turn the spike & tube assembly upside down - which you have to do, in order to screw it into a full bottle of water. I had to use some blue tack around the tube joining to get this to stay it. I managed to slow the water flow on some in the following way: PFTE tape around the bottle thread to create water/airtight seal Inserting rolled up kitchen towel tightly packed into the nozzle itself Use on tightest setting +blue tack around tube fitting so it doesn't fall out This was still quite hit and miss and didn't work that well on some assemblies. I did create a couple that released water over several days with the modifications. Needless to say it was quite a hassle!Read full review

Set up ready for holiday. 1st one wouldn't stop dripping & emptied within an hour. Thought i did something wrong as there are no instructions with the product. Found instructions on YouTube & found doing right. Have set up the remaining 7 & all emptied within an hour. Not impressed

A bit hit and miss. Need to stop the soil blocking the tiny holes where the water is suppose to drip from. Tried cutting a piece off the hose pipe and putting the spike into it before pushing it into the soil. Seems to be better

wanted to keep my plants watered while on holiday for a week. So filled up the bottles with water to test them every one drained in 24 hours flooding the pots. Just don't work don't buy waste of time.

I was expecting the water to drip very slowly out but it came out quite quickly. The idea I had was for it to slowly water my tubs whilst I was away . The adjustable tap did not seem to work
