Having used these type of products in the past, I thought I'd buy a better known brand than my original (unbranded) set. Harris paint brushes have been around for decades, so I thought I'd try their pads for emulsioning a large hallway for my first project. Paint pads take some getting used to, especially if you have been using brushes for a long time. In hot weather, (such as the most recent UK summer), paint tended to thicken much faster in the tin and roller tray, so you have to paint faster. I found that the paint on the pads also dried much faster - and this led to the pads sticking to the ceiling as you drag it across. Pads therefore take some getting used to and because gloss paint is generally thicker than emulsion, I would not recommend these for gloss, but for emulsion, they are best suited to covering a darker colour with a lighter one because the paint applied is a thicker layer than if using a paint roller. Useful tip: Don't drag the pads over paint that has started to dry as this will leave streaks, which are then very difficult to paint out! The small pad could have been designed better, so that it could be used in tight spaces, like a small paint brush can be. Due to the handle being straight, in line with the pad, it's not easy to get into awkward corners.Read full review

I found it harder to keep consistency in painting the walls and actually came out quite patchy. Prefer roller, but that may just be for me as I am used to the technique of rollers. In my case I wasted a lot of paint as it came of the pad in big splats and was much messier than the rollers usually do. Again, that may have been me but I ditched the pads after one room and went back to rolling.

Set is fine 2nd pad would be better if same type as large pad and a 2nd handle would help

Hard to fault this purchase as it does work well. Paint pads are a much less messy option than rollers and brushes and cover larger areas easier and more quickly. However, I paid something like £14 for this inc postage but notice B&M are selling the exact same thing for only £5.99 so understandably miffed at paying twice that much. :-(

So easy to use and much quicker to paint a whole room. Only problem is that after a few washes, it starts coming apart. But it does the job, loved it
